இலங்கை போர்க்குற்ற காட்சிகள் உண்மையே - மனித உரிமை அமைப்பு !

இலங்கையில் போர்க் குற்றம் நடந்தது தொடர்பாக, பிரிட்டனின் "சேனல்-4' வெளியிட்ட வீடியோ காட்சிகள் அத்தனையும் உண்மையே' என, ஐ.நா., மனித உரிமைகள் விசாரணையாளர் ஒருவர் தெரிவித்துள்ளார். ஐ.நா., மனித உரிமைகள் கமிஷன் கூட்டம் நேற்று துவங்கிய நிலையில், இந்த கருத்து வெளியாகியுள்ளதால், இலங்கை அரசுக்கு மேலும் நெருக்கடி உண்டாகும் என எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது.

இலங்கையில், 2009, மே மாதம், விடுதலைப் புலிகளுக்கும், இலங்கை ராணுவத்துக்கும் இடையிலான போர் முடிவுக்கு வந்தது. அதன்பின் மூன்று மாதங்கள் கழித்து, பிரிட்டனில் உள்ள "சேனல் 4' என்ற செய்தி நிறுவனம், ஆண்கள் மற்றும் பெண்களை நிர்வாணமாக நிற்க வைத்து, இலங்கை ராணுவ வீரர்கள் சுட்டுத் தள்ளிய கொடூரக் காட்சிகள் அடங்கிய வீடியோவை வெளியிட்டது. ஐந்து நிமிடங்கள் ஓடக் கூடிய இந்த வீடியோ உலகளவில் பெரும் அதிர்ச்சியை ஏற்படுத்தியது.இந்த வீடியோ பொய்யானது என மறுத்தது இலங்கை அரசு. அதன்பின் இலங்கை அரசு மற்றும் விடுதலைப் புலிகளின் போர்க் குற்றங்கள் குறித்து ஐ.நா., அமைத்த மூவர் குழு, பல்வேறு அதிர்ச்சிகரமான உண்மைகளை வெளியிட்டது. நேற்று முதல் ஐ.நா., மனித உரிமைகள் கமிஷன் கூட்டம் துவங்கி நடக்க ஆரம்பித்துள்ளது. இக்கூட்டம், இன்னும் மூன்று வாரங்கள் நடக்கும்.

Lanka slams UN rights chief for seeking probe into violations

Sri Lanka on Monday slammed UN rights watchdog chief Navi Pillay for calling for a fresh international probe into alleged war crimes committed during the final stages of the ethnic conflict in the country that ended in 2009.

Launching a scathing attack on the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Sri Lanka questioned her bona fides and said her actions were unbecoming of her high office."The High Commissioner unbecomingly deems it appropriate to call for action on the recommendations of the said report which are based on unverified information and also un-sourced, and would remain so for the next 20 years," said Kshenuka Senewiratne, Sri Lanka's permanent representative to the Human Rights Council (HRC).

Colombo's outburst came as Pillai in a statement to the Geneva-based HRC at its 17th session today called for a fresh international investigation into alleged war crimes during the civil war. Pillai had referred to a UN expert panel report which collected testimony and put together what they called "credible allegations" of gross human rights abuses and other crimes against humanity committed both by Lankan troops and the LTTE during the final stages of the three-decade civil war.

Sri Lanka has been keen to avoid any reference to Secretary General Ban Ki-moon's controversial report which was released in April. It called for an international probe which Colombo has consistently rejected. Her statement released in Colombo together with parts of Pillai's comments to the Council came ahead of a meeting Sri Lanka is holding tomorrow to showcase its military success in defeating the LTTE.
