The death of A M Sadhick Batcha was due to asphyxiation, doctors said on Thursday after the autopsy, but refused to offer any hypothesis, maintaining that it required further analysis.
The post mortem of Batcha, a close aide of former telecom minister A Raja, was performed at Royapettah General Hospital in Chennai with senior health officials from the Tamil Nadu government being involved, said sources. Based on a specific request by the police, the whole process was videographed, they added.
“We will present the preliminary report to the police in 48 hours. But for a detailed analysis, we have sent specimen to the forensic sciences laboratory and the pathology department of the hospital,” Dr V Dekal, who performed the autopsy, told The Indian Express. This will take about a fortnight, he said.
In the initial examination, there were no wounds on Batcha’s body but on the neck there were hanging marks, doctors said.
